The instructor who strives to create an inclusive and equitable classroom will focus on creating a welcoming environment for all students and will strive to include a diversity of sources from their subject domain.  They will use examples in their readings and problem sets which reflect the diversity of their student populations.

• Keep current on issues of racism/sexism, current racial tensions, and contemporary cultural issues in the United States, especially in relation to your discipline
• Proactively address common student misconceptions
• Assess prior knowledge of learners; use it to plan/revise class session
